:::: THINGS YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW ::::

TZA Series Projects – majority of the series projects are serialized in the following Manga Magazines: Comic Zero-Sum, Comic Gene, Comic Avarus, Comic Gene, etc.

TZA Oneshot Projects – majority of the oneshot projects are serialized in the following Manga Magazines: GANGAN Online, Altima Ace, Comic Zero-Sum, Comic Avarus, Comic Blade, Comic Gene, etc.

:::: REQUIREMENTS TO ALL VOLUNTEERS ::::

  • You’ve got to be sure that YOU HAVE FREE TIME for this. There’s no point if you’re too busy anyway.
  • You can open both RAR and ZIP files. Files are often compressed that way.
  • You can download from Box, 4Shared and MediaFire. They’re the common file hosts we use.

:::: POSITIONS/ROLE YOU CAN FILL IN ::::

  • Scanner or RAW Provider – scans from a manga/tankoubon or manga magazine, or can attain scanned copies from other sources, or can extract RAW pages from online readers
  • Translator – translates from Japanese to English. If you’re not that confident in your Japanese, you could be an initial/newbie translator, wherein someone will check what you do or fill-up what you miss.
(Having MS Word, Open Office, Notepad, or Wordpad is necessary)
  • Cleaner – could remove the Japanese text from scans and make them neater. Doesn’t have to be capable of doing complex editing, but being able to redraw as well would be cool.
    (Having Adobe Photoshop is necessary)
  • Redrawer – a Cleaner that could merge spreads and do challenging pages wherein some redrawing and advanced cloning would be necessary. Doesn’t have to do all the pages; only the challenging ones.
    (Having Adobe Photoshop is necessary)
  • Typesetter – can place translated texts on cleaned pages, making the fonts as similar to their Japanese equivalent as possible. Being able to do proofreading or image editing as well is a plus, but not necessary.
(Having Adobe Photoshop, and MS Word or Open Office is necessary)
  • Editor – a Typesetter than can also clean and/or proofread. An Editor takes care of whatever the cleaner or proofreader might have missed.
(Having Adobe Photoshop, and MS Word or Open Office is necessary)
  • Proofreader –  decently fluent in English and has a proper grasp of English grammar and spelling. Sometimes might need to do some research for double-checking translation notes. At least basic knowledge in Japanese, like being able to read hiragana, would be nice, but not necessary.
(Having MS Word or Open Office is necessary)
  • Mirror Distributor – can re-upload the releases to other sites (MediaFire, 4Shared, etc.), and/or have them available in other file formats (RAR, ZIP, PDF).
(Having WinZip and WinRAR is necessary)
  • Graphic Artist – an artist that can do banners and other image designs for the group’s site.
(Having an Art/Graphic program is necessary)
  • Blogger – decently fluent in English and loves to create write-ups/posts for sharing news/updates/information related to manga. Being able to understand Japanese would be nice, but not necessary. Preferrably a fan of majority of the TZA projects and also other series that are under similar publishers.
(Having a WordPress Account is necessary)

:::: ARE YOU A NEWBIE? ::::

Experience is not required, but willingness to learn is. We will not train you since there are already so many scanlation tutorials out there where you can learn from; we are only going to assist you in improving your skills, or give you tips in making your task easier or in accomplishing them quicker.

  • New Translator– If you’re not confident with your Japanese, Yukihito can guide and help you out on whatever lines you aren’t sure of. But you can only be guided or assisted on how to translate, you won’t be taught how to understand basic Japanese!
  • New Cleaner – Check out any of the recommended scanlation editing tutorials listed below before joining. Most of what you need to know are already answered there. For additional instructions and guidance, Kaito will take care of you. But you can only be guided in manga editing, not in using Photoshop!
  • New Typesetter – Check out any of  the recommended scanlation editing tutorials listed below before joining. Most of what you need to know are already answered there. For additional instructions and guidance, Kaito will take care of you. But you can only be guided in typesetting manga, not in using Photoshop!
  • New Proofreader – Kaito will take care of instructing you on how to proofread TZA style. But you can only be guided in proofreading, not in using Google or in how to use proper English!

  • Translator: Share a RAW image, and the script document of its translation. If you can translate without furigana, it would be better if your sample doesn’t have furigana.

(Acceptable Image File Types: JPEG, PNG )
(Acceptable Document File Types: .DOC, .DOCX, .RTF, .TXT )
  • Cleaner/Redrawer: Share a RAW image, and your edited version. You can use tests provided by other groups, or these (the higher the number, the more challenging it is. You only need to do those you can handle, not exactly all of them).

(Acceptable Image File Types: JPEG, PNG, TIF, PSD )
  • Typesetter: Share a RAW image, and your edited version. You can use tests provided by other groups.
But if you’re not a newbie, you can just mention the scanlations you’ve typesetted for, and for which group.
(Acceptable Image File Types: JPEG, PNG, TIF, PSD )
